Project Description

Ian McKenzie was the Guest Speaker on 16 March 2017. The theme for the evening was fly tying techniques that included plaiting ostrich herl (Walker’s Mayfly Nymph), divided wings using calf tail (Grey Wulff variant), CDC for wings and body, CDC shuttlecock on emerger pattern (Yellow Owl), parachute techniques and hackle for spider pattern using longer fibre partridge hackles. Ian demonstrated a novel technique developed by Barry Ord Clarke for tying a ragworm using rabbit zonker fur to produce a snake variant.
